Jason and I finally decided to take a vacation! We left the kids with my parents at our house and headed to St. Augustine, Florida. Actually, Jason won the trip last year when he volunteered at the Byron Nelson golf tournament. They award door prizes and this was the grand prize. It included our hotel, two rounds of golf, tickets to the Golf Fall of Fame and IMAX theater. We just had to pay for our flight, rental car, and food. So, it was a nice getaway without spending a ton of money.
We left this morning and had a great flight. We arrived in Jacksonville, got our luggage and rental car and were off in time to have lunch. We were very hungry and stopped at a Hardee's and had lunch. We had never eaten there. It was good enough and then we headed across the street to Cold Stone. Jason, of course, had his sweet cream shake. I indulged in a peanut butter cup perfection. I miss peanut butter, so I took advantage of Rylee not being with us!
We then headed out for about an hour drive to St. Augustine. We found our hotel and got checked in. The hotel is very nice and very quiet. We settled in and then headed over to the main area at the World Golf Village. Our hotel is part of the World Golf Village resort, but it was on the King and Bear course. The Golf Hall of Fame is on the Slammer and Squire course. We looked around at the gift shops and then headed into St. Augustine to look around and have dinner. We ended up at a place called A-1A Ale Works. They are a brewery and restaurant. We sat on the patio overlooking the bay. It was a bit overcast, but still very nice out. Here are our only pictures from today taken with my iphone at dinner.
